Editorial & AI Policy

How PTI researches, reviews,
and publishes technical content

PowderTechnology.info explains how technical content is developed,
reviewed, corrected, and approved, how AI tools support the editorial
workflow, and who remains accountable for the finished publication.

Human review

Every current-process article receives human editorial review

AI as working material

AI output supports the workflow but is not treated as evidence

Source verification

Substantive technical claims are checked against source material

No autonomous publishing

Generated content has no direct path to a live article

Key information

Human editorial responsibility remains central

PowderTechnology.info exists to give powder and particle professionals technical reference material they can use in engineering, research, quality, and process decisions. Readers should be able to understand how that material is produced, how it is reviewed, how AI tools may be used, and who remains accountable for what is published.

AI tools may support research, drafting, comparison, calculation, editing, imagery, and other editorial work. They do not replace source verification, competent technical judgment, human review, or publication approval.

Editorial responsibility

Who is accountable for publication

PowderTechnology.info is published and operated by Deep Field Publishing, the publishing trade name of BizzEthics, a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands.

Martijn Daalder, Publisher, is responsible for publication decisions and the operation of the publication. Editorial control is exercised by Martijn Daalder, Publisher, and Stéphane Sloots, Editor-in-Chief.

In practice, editorial development and review are collaborative. The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief may commission, develop, edit, review, and approve technical content. Articles may additionally be reviewed by named subject-matter experts where specialist technical validation is required.

Every article published or materially revised under the current editorial process undergoes human editorial review and approval before publication. No content is published automatically.

Questions, corrections, or disputes concerning published content can be sent to editorial@powdertechnology.info.

How our content is produced

AI output is working material, not an authoritative source

We use AI tools as part of our editorial workflow. We are direct about this because our readers are technical professionals who deserve a clear account of how the material they rely on is produced.

The quality of a technical article depends on the evidence behind it, the review applied to it, and the people willing to take responsibility for it, not simply on which tools were involved in preparing a draft.

AI output is treated as working material, not as an authoritative source. AI output itself is not used as evidence for a substantive technical claim.

Content published under the current editorial process falls into three main categories, each with a defined review standard.

Bylined expert articles

Named experts approve the technical substance

These articles are written or co-developed with a named subject-matter expert who has relevant academic, scientific, technical, or industrial expertise.

The named author reviews the complete article for technical accuracy and has the authority to amend or reject any part of it before publication. Sources supporting substantive technical claims are reviewed as part of that process.

AI tools may be used for research support, drafting, structuring, comparison of source material, language editing, or other editorial tasks.

A named expert byline means that the author has reviewed and approved the technical substance of the article.

Editorial reference articles

Editorial synthesis is followed by substantive human review

These articles are produced through the PowderTechnology.info editorial process.

AI tools may be used to organize, compare, and synthesize information from identified scientific literature, standards, technical documentation, and other relevant source material; to support drafting and structural development; and to identify questions requiring further verification.

The resulting material is then subject to substantive human editorial review before publication.

Review addresses, as relevant to the subject matter:

  • the physical or chemical mechanism being described;
  • the appropriateness and limitations of measurement methods;
  • numerical claims and calculations;
  • terminology and technical definitions;
  • the quality, relevance, and traceability of sources;
  • the distinction between established knowledge, interpretation, and uncertainty; and
  • whether the conclusions presented are supported by the available evidence.

Sources supporting substantive technical claims are checked against the underlying source material before publication. Articles that do not meet our technical or editorial standards are revised or not published.

Partner and contributed content

Commercial relationships do not determine editorial conclusions

Content may also be supplied by laboratories, instrument manufacturers, research organizations, consultants, and other industry contributors.

Such content is clearly attributed to the contributing person or organization and is reviewed by PowderTechnology.info for technical plausibility, appropriate attribution, and compliance with our editorial standards.

Commercial contributions and sponsored material are identified as such. Sponsorship, advertising, commercial support, or a contributor relationship does not determine PowderTechnology.info’s editorial conclusions. Editorial acceptance and the final form of published material remain under PTI editorial control.

Contributors remain responsible for proprietary data, experimental results, product-specific statements, and claims originating from their own work. PowderTechnology.info retains editorial control over whether and in what form contributed material is published.

What we use AI for

AI may support research and production tasks

AI tools may be used to support:

  • organizing, comparing, and synthesizing information from scientific literature, standards, and technical documentation;
  • first-draft structuring and writing;
  • comparison and organization of technical information;
  • identification of conflicting claims, gaps, or areas requiring further verification;
  • consistency checks against our editorial standards;
  • copy editing, formatting, and metadata;
  • translation and terminology alignment; and
  • calculations and quantitative reasoning based on stated or traceable inputs.

Where AI assists with a calculation, the resulting value must be reproducible from the underlying inputs or otherwise traceable to an identified source. Unsupported AI-generated estimates are not presented as measured or established facts.

AI-assisted images and illustrations

Illustrative visuals are not experimental evidence

AI tools may be used to create or refine editorial illustrations, hero images, diagrams, and other visual material used on PowderTechnology.info.

AI-assisted visuals are used to communicate a technical subject, mechanism, process, application, or editorial context. They are not presented as experimental evidence, measurement output, micrographs, documentary photographs, or records of a specific installation unless they genuinely originate from that source and are identified accordingly.

Where the illustrative or generated nature of an image is material to its technical interpretation, that context is stated in the accompanying text, caption, description, or other relevant publication information.

What we do not use AI for

AI does not replace evidence, judgment, or approval

We do not use AI to:

  • Invent experimental data or test results. Experimental values published on PowderTechnology.info must be traceable to an identified source, published work, or a named contributor’s own measurements.
  • Fabricate citations or references. Sources used to support substantive claims are verified before publication.
  • Create fictional authors, experts, credentials, or institutional affiliations. Every named author or reviewer is a real person.
  • Replace technical judgment. Substantive claims about mechanisms, method selection, measurement interpretation, numerical results, or technical consequences remain subject to competent human review.
  • Publish autonomously. There is no direct path from generated content to a live article without human editorial intervention and approval.

Numerical claims and sources

Numbers must be traceable or reproducible

We do not publish numerical claims we cannot trace or reproduce.

Where a value comes from a published standard, scientific paper, technical reference, manufacturer document, regulatory source, or other identifiable source, that source is cited or otherwise clearly identified where appropriate to the claim.

Where a number depends on a specific measurement method, instrument configuration, calculation, material condition, sample preparation step, or operating assumption, we provide the context needed to understand that dependence.

Where published literature, standards, or measurement methods produce different ranges or definitions, we do not present a single value as universally applicable without justification.

If you encounter a numerical claim on PowderTechnology.info that you cannot verify, contact us. We will investigate it and either provide the supporting basis, clarify the context, correct the claim, or remove it.

Editorial records

Current-process articles retain a review trail

For every article published or materially revised under the current editorial process, we retain an editorial record that may include:

  • the content type or editorial tier;
  • AI tools used, where applicable;
  • the principal sources consulted;
  • the reviewer or reviewers;
  • the date of review;
  • substantive technical changes made during review;
  • final publication approval; and
  • the approval date.

Additional material, such as contributor correspondence, technical comments, draft history, source notes, or supporting calculations, is retained where relevant.

These records provide a traceable basis for the editorial review and technical claims behind published content. They are maintained as editorial governance records and are not necessarily published in full on the website.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected and recorded

Technical publishing can get things wrong. When we do, we correct them.

Where a correction materially affects a technical interpretation, numerical claim, recommendation, or conclusion, the change is noted on the article or otherwise recorded as part of its publication history.

Readers, researchers, manufacturers, laboratories, and other subject-matter specialists are encouraged to challenge claims they believe are incorrect, outdated, or inadequately supported.

Corrections can be submitted to editorial@powdertechnology.info.

EU AI Act and editorial control

Human review and editorial responsibility remain identifiable

Article 50 of the EU AI Act applies from 2 August 2026 and establishes transparency obligations for certain AI-generated or AI-manipulated content.

For text generated or manipulated by an AI system and published for the purpose of informing the public on matters of public interest, Article 50(4) provides an exception to the disclosure requirement where the content has undergone human review or editorial control and a natural or legal person holds editorial responsibility for its publication.

The current PowderTechnology.info editorial process is designed around substantive human review, editorial control, and identifiable editorial responsibility. Human review is not limited to spelling, formatting, or other purely formal checks; it addresses the substance, sources, technical reasoning, and conclusions of the material being published.

Our use of AI tools does not transfer responsibility for the accuracy, technical judgment, editorial decision, or publication of the finished work to the AI system or its provider.

Why we publish this policy

Readers should understand how technical information is produced

Readers are entitled to understand how technical information is produced and reviewed.

AI tools are becoming part of normal research, writing, analysis, and publishing workflows. Their use does not remove the need for competent technical judgment, source verification, editorial control, or accountability. Those safeguards remain central to the PowderTechnology.info publishing process.
